Love Note Wedding Reel

Greetings Friends! We’ve compiled some of our favorite moments we’ve captured over the years and crafted a wedding reel for your enjoyment. For us, it was a trip down memory lane. We can’t wait for you to check it out!

Our films are about your wedding, but they’re also about your relationship. We don’t think the two are separable and our storytelling style definitely reflects that. We get to know you as people; not just as bride and groom. Being able to capture who you are and why you’re in love is as critical to us as capturing your first kiss. It’s all part of the same epic love story, and it’s all equally important. We LOVE getting to know new couples and creating beautiful films for them. Hopefully we will add you to that list!

After watching our wedding reel, we encourage you to browse the rest of our website. You can get detailed information about what we do, answers to some frequently asked questions, and of course – you can watch our wedding films! We highly recommend it. If you like what you see, we’d love to hear from you!

Oh and did we mention we’re running a special promotion right now? Click here before it’s gone!

Cheers,
Love Note Cinema

How Do I Write What I Feel?

Metaphors can be a powerful way to convey emotions that otherwise seem too great for mere adjectives. Of course, the trick is to avoid beating your reader over the head with something forced or contrived. Consider how effortlessly Mark Twain describes his feelings towards Olivia in terms of an ocean:

“Out of the depths of my happy heart wells a great tide of love and prayer for this priceless treasure that is confided to my lifelong keeping. You cannot see its waves as they flow toward you, darling, but in these lines you will hear…the distant beating of its surf.”

Your (legal) Wedding Music

“I really want [insert Top 40 song here] in my wedding video. Can you do that?”

Just like most wedding filmmakers, we get this question a lot. The answer is actually a bit complicated and we thought it deserved a little more of a complete treatment than we give it in our FAQ section. Wedding music is an important topic so we hope you can spare one or two minutes to consider our perspective on it.

The real answer to the above question is that any music selection is theoretically possible if you have the budget to pay for it. The more realistic answer is, in many cases, simply no. Here’s why:

First: Music is property. In order to use a song, you have to pay the owner a license fee. Generally speaking, the more popular the song is, the more expensive the fee will be. A Top 40 song will easily command a license fee to the tune of several thousand dollars. Given that we usually use a minimum of three songs in our films, the license fees could easily surpass the $10,000 mark. We’re not joking.

Second: Filmmaking is a holistic process and choosing music has to be done in the context of all the other storytelling pieces – footage, speeches, narration, etc. Sure, you may love when “I Gotta Feeling” comes on the radio, but in the grand scheme of your wedding film it may make no sense at all. It’s not a slideshow or a music video – it’s a film. We want you to trust us to make good storytelling decisions based on how well we have come to know you. And believe me, we get to know our clients very well.

Unfortunately, many high-profile professional wedding filmmakers out there are still using unlicensed (stolen) music. We’re not going to name names – they know who they are. Usually they surface after being slapped with a big lawsuit – like this videographer who settled a crippling five-figure case for copyright infringement.

We’re artists too, so we don’t want to steal other people’s creative work. Musicians put a lot of time and effort into producing their songs and they deserve to be compensated for creating something that everyone loves. So we have no problem paying for music licensing via websites like Song Freedom and The Music Bed. Our packages include all music licensing fees required to make a great film, so you don’t have to worry about it. But we think it’s very important for people to know that we play by the rules, because not everyone does.

Love Notes Lost & Found

What a great Valentine’s Day story! Decades ago, Lloyd and Marian were the unfortunate victims of a robbery that left them without the hundreds of letters they had sent to each other throughout Lloyd’s deployment during WWII. Amazingly, many years later they met up with a man who had stumbled across their long-lost romantic love notes and happily offered to return them to their rightful owners.

Lost Love Notes

Darling, I love you more every day. It seems as if I’m wanting your caresses more and more, and I’m wanting your kisses more … I’m wanting you more and more. Sweetheart, all my life is yours.“  — Marian to Lloyd, December 8, 1944

The 52 Love Note Challenge

art of manlinessListen up, gents. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we have the perfect way for you to make the day (and year!) really special. Last year the guys over at The Art of Manliness came up with the “52 Love Notes Challenge;” a pledge to write one love note to your significant other for each week of the year. We particularly love the reasoning behind the challenge:

The instant communication tools of today have nearly obliterated the love letter, which is a crying shame. Don’t get me wrong, I really love the tech wonders of our day.  Email? I love it–so useful. Texting? Same deal. Twitter? Addictive as all get out. These are all fantastic tools for communicating with co-workers, making plans with friends–even asking for the grocery list.

At the end of the day, though, a well-written love letter communicates deep affection in a way that a bazillion texts, emails, and tweets never can.

In my own life, it was easy to see how my obsession with “instant” had steadily eroded the inclination to put extra thought and time into carefully written love letters to my wife…

Head over to their blog to read more! They have amazing examples and tips for writing a great love notes.
