Fatima + Randall’s Wedding Film

When we first sat down and thought about pursuing film production, we never thought we’d be doing weddings for any other reason than to make ends meet while we looked for “real” jobs. Why? The truth is that we thought making wedding videos was too stressful, too cheesy, and too boring. And while it can be stressful, we were definitely wrong about the other parts.

Fatima and Randall

Randall and Fatima’s film is something we’re really proud of. When people think of wedding videos, we want them to think of this – not the dusty VHS tape their parents probably have sitting in their attic.

The “epic-ness” of this film is owed entirely to Randall and Fatima. Not only did they plan a beautiful wedding in Brooklyn at Giando on the Water, but they are also just really awesome, down-to-earth, fun people. And they have a palpable emotional connection together that even the best cinematographers could not stage. Great films come from great stories, and if you feel a little teary-eyed at the end of this one, you’ll know it’s because Randall and Fatima really do share something special.

Wedding Cinematography

We loved working alongside Alicia Swedenborg – who is amazing and shoots film! – and the friendly staff at Giando. Giando is really an amazing place to have a wedding – the views of NYC and the Williamsburg Bridge are equally stunning.

On the techie side, this was the first time we printed the DVD case cover from a video still from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. You could definitely print very nice 4×6’s from the camera. Pretty cool…

Mark + Krista’s Love Story Film

We met Mark and Krista at the Grand Hotel in Cape May, NJ at a wedding tasting that the hotel was hosting. We can vividly remember them walking up to our little table – Mark still sporting a pretty manly beard – and inquiring about how we might be able to help them with their wedding.

Mark and Krista

Ultimately, they decided on creating a love story short film that would really capture who they are as people and as a couple. We loved getting to know them and we’re so happy they went with our off-the-wall suggestion to play paint twister. In retrospect it’s amazing how well that fits with their personalities.

For as much as we love wedding films, we love doing these kinds of films too because of the creative freedom we have when we’re just relaxed with the couple on a normal day. And we know that their love story film is something that they and their children will cherish forever. It’s the perfect little package for capturing this extended moment in their lives.

We had the privilege of photographing their wedding on October 12th and while the weather didn’t totally cooperate, it certainly did not stop the party. It was easily some of the best dancing we’ve seen this year! Congratulations guys!

Emily + Marc’s Wedding Film

For Matt, Emily and Marc’s wedding marked the completion of a trilogy for the Showalter family. Starting in 2008 with Emily’s sister Kristin, he has been the man behind the camera for the wedding of all three siblings. That’s no small feat!

After Marc and Emily first met they realized just how much they had in common. They had gone to the same high school, their brothers worked together, her sister went to high school with his sister-in-law – their personal lives were secretly intertwining long before they got together. So when they did finally cross paths with each other, they both felt like they were meant to be together.

It was in December of 2012 that Marc proposed to Emily on a weekend trip to NYC. They were doing a bit of sightseeing at Ellis Island and reflecting on the incredible fact that both of their ancestors had arrived here from Ireland and Germany over 100 years ago. And they truly went full circle by returning to Ireland for their honeymoon. We’re sure that made for a fun trip.

We really enjoyed shooting Marc and Emily’s wedding – we especially loved working with the great team of vendors that they picked. We hope you enjoy their film!
